Actor-turned-politician Malavalli Huchche Gowda Amarnath, famous by screen name Ambareesh, died on Saturday at the age of 66. The former Congress MLA breathed his last at Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru. He is survived by his wife Sumalatha and son Abhishek Gowda. Earlier in the evening, he complained of breathlessness following which he was rushed to the hospital.
Ambareesh was born on May 29, 1952, in Doddarasinakere village of Mandya district in Karnataka. He completed his schooling in Mandya and later moved to Saraswathipuram in Mysore for higher studies.
Ambareesh had served as the Minister of State (MoS), in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, from October 24, 2006 to February 15, 2008 under the Manmohan Singh-led government.
